  • Summary

  • As a Christian Homeschooling Mom, and Children's book author, I see and hear questions about homeschooling and parenting all the time. I have a love for books, and love using books as conversation starters with other parents AND in my homeschooling. Stories bridge a gap making conversations easier, more comfortable, and sometimes asking questions you didn't know needed to be asked. I do it all from a perspective grounded in my Faith with. Parenting isn't easy, being a kid isn't either, sometimes we all need a little encouragement along the journey.

  • Outside the box approach to building up self-esteem and a reading culture
    Oct 4 2022

In this episode I talk with my daughter about her experience writing her first book. We took on the project as an outside the box approach to dealing with her struggles in reading and writing. Both struggles are hard on their own, but in a family with a strong reading culture, it was really causing problems with her self-esteem. I talk a bit about how I met her needs during this process so that from start to finish it built up her confidence. Along the way she discovered that hey, she did like reading after all.

  • Scheduling Your Homeschool Day- High School Edition
    Sep 20 2022

This time of year, lots of new parents join the homeschooling community. Both new and existing homeschoolers have lots of questions, doubts and concerns that come up, most of them have to do with scheduling their day, or what curriculum should they use.

Today I am going to talk about schedules, specifically for the older crowd, our highschoolers. If that describes you or someone you know then stick around and have a listen. If you have kids in several age groups, then remember it will look different for each of these areas, and maybe different for two kids in the same age range. High school may be less about play, it is still their experience, and they need to have a greater say in what is happening. If you'd like the link to my daily/weekly schedules,  planners to print out you can sign up for my newsletter and gain access them, and dozens of other free printables here.
