  • The other day I was thinking back at my time in the Corps. I recalled a time when we had deployed to Iraq during the push and we had a vehicle on our convoy go down. Our stick (convoy) commander made a decision to tow the vehicle with a different type of variant type of vehicle. Something completely out of text book that eventually led to an accident. Although no one was hurt, it could have been pretty tragic nonetheless. From the beggining I was completely against this decision, however, the captain stuck with good or bad. I also had to give it to the young Marine who even suggested such an idea. He was confident about his suggestion thinking it was a good thing to do. Although their judgement call was not the best, both felt confident about it and stuck with it. Sometimes as leaders, very difficult decisions have to be made. Good or bad, one must at least be accountable for one's actions.
