About this listen

The BHP is a chronological retelling of the history of Britain with a particular focus upon the lives of the people. You won’t find a dry recounting of dates and battles here, but instead you’ll learn about who these people were and how their desires, fears, and flaws shaped the scope of this island at the edge of the world. And some of those desires are downright scandalous.Copyright © 2011 The British History Podcast, Inc. All rights reserved. Education Social Sciences World

Picture mammoths munching on tundra as Britannia cuddles with Europe, then picture it cast adrift by rising seas. May 30 2011

Forget conquering Gaul! Julius Caesar, fueled by ambition and fear of the mythical Oceanus, sets sail across uncharted waters to tame the wild warriors of Britain. His landing turns chaotic as chariots clash with Roman swords on blood-soaked beaches. But fear gives way to discipline, and the empire’s ironclad legions crush the blue-painted defenders. Peace […]

Great content, well researched objective history told with a bias towards what it all means to the average person at the time. Doesn't just focus on the big moments and big names. This podcast has been going for 11 years chronologically and we're still only at around 1066! I'm looking forward to still be listening in the 2030s!

I have been listening to this for years.

LOVE The Facts and research that have made this into such a useful yet entertaining podcast.
Truly my favourite podcast I've ever heard.
Weather you are a teacher who wants to draw knowledge or storytelling skills, or like me, just a history lover who was always hungry to learn more but struggled to trust 'facts' taught in formal education, but lacked the ability to actually study materials to find out the truth for myself, this podcast will definitely give you the clearest picture of British history through the ages that you will find anywhere.
Jamie, please continue to create these podcasts! Thank you!

giving he's own thoughts and imagination as fact, denying certain theories until it fits he's narrative.. just tell the history as it is found or documented instead of adding imaginary scenarios (raedwalds wife as he's equal) I'm positive we would atleast have a name or a knick name.. or even a single pieces of evidence anywhere which there isn't. I'm all for giving people of history their say but you are just using your imagination

Jamie is a ridiculous hypocrite
