About this listen

Ah, remember ye olde days when the family would gather around the giant Philco radio and listen to serials? You don’t? We don’t either. But apparently that’s how Cinnamon Bear was born on November 26, 1937, as the star of a holiday season cliff-hanger-style children’s radio series. We hear it was quite the rage!

Well, that was then. Now a whole new series, The Cinnamon Bear: A Holiday Adventure is being brought to life by an all-star cast, and it ain’t your grandpappy’s spiced eggnog. For starters, Jimmy and Judy, those ridiculously naïve kids from the original, are now skeptical, savvy, and sarcastic little buggers (hey, parents - sound familiar?). They follow the magical Cinnamon Bear (Alan Cumming) on an out-of-this-world trek to find their lost (or stolen!) tree-topping star. Along the way, they’ll encounter some bizarre (and hilarious) characters, including Mr. Presto the Magician (John Goodman), the Crazy Quilt Dragon (Stephen Root), and - spoiler alert! - Santa Claus himself (Ryan Reynolds). Mix in a playful score by cofounder of the Pogues James Fearnley, and you’ve got a deliciously rich and rewarding holiday experience kids and parents will love.

Full disclosure- I started this because I’m a fan of both Milo and Camryn Manheim. Not sure what I was expecting but it is turning out to be a cute, quirky tale that doesn’t take itself seriously. All the cast bring their A-game and I’m tuning in on the drive home each night.

Charming Christmas tale

A smart and witty telling of a Christmas classic. Narrated by NCIS's Director Vance,...oh, and Ryan Reynolds is in it too

a Christmas treat for everyone

I thought it was quite fun, just don't take it seriously, has nothing is has it seems & full of twists and turns & very imaginative.
the kids will probably enjoy it being in short episodes & the narrator seems to be aiming it for kids, where he was getting over excited over each episode and cliffhanger, when I have already guessed something will happen & they will be fine has its a kids story and kid stories don't usually kill off the heroes.
For a freebie it was entertaining enough, though I do have one fault with it and that's the voices of the kids they sound a lot older than 8 and 10, they sound like kids in their teens and speak like they're older, I kept forgetting what their ages were until it gets mentioned.

A fun little story, probably one for the kids
