About this listen

Set on a large ranch in rural upstate New York, it’s early days for the eccentric group of people who call themselves “The Zeta Family” - quite possibly the next big cult phenomenon.

Katie (Amy Goodmurphy), our central protagonist, is an aspiring reporter who has decided to infiltrate the compound, and her future success as a journalist depends entirely on her ability to win the confidence of Zeta Doug (Kevin Nealon), the likable spiritual leader of the group.

He’s like a cross between Hunter S. Thompson and George R. R. Martin, with a little too much sci-fi in his head and acid in his blood stream. Like all good cult leaders, Doug is elusive and mysterious, and Katie quickly begins to wonder if this cult is truly just a gnarly collection of weirdos hanging out in the woods, or is there something else going on here?

I was gripped with this story from the beginning and loved the sassy female storytellers. I like being surprised and this story did just that. it was a nice change to finish a story with a smile on my face.

what a refreshing twisty tale

At the beginning I thought I wouldn't get into the story as this is not my sort of story interest. I was surprised how much it drew me in. It was a good story, also fun & good humour. Read extremely well too.

So good

After a slow but interesting start with some pretty unlikeable characters, this show turns into something wonderful.

this is a quick review but I have to say what a fantastic book! The voice actors were absolutely brilliant and the storyline was superb with only the hint of Sci-fi.

fantastic!

Don't expect depth to this story, the characters are excessively flawed.

That said it is fantastic, easy listening and surprisingly gripping in the end.

Well worth a free listen
