About this listen
Tom Robinson found fame in 1977 when the Tom Robinson Band’s 2-4-6-8 Motorway became a top five hit.
Never ones to shy away from a fight for justice, TRB were a key part of the punk movement and, in addition to producing two hit albums and touring extensively, were active campaigners for Rock Against Racism and a host of other causes.
Tom’s anthem 'Sing if You’re Glad to be Gay' was a hugely important rallying call for the gay liberation movement with which he was – and remains – strongly associated.
In his teens, Tom attempted suicide and found help and support in a therapeutic community. His is a fascinating journey From There to Here.
