If you could sum up Where Should We Begin? with Esther Perel in three words, what would they be?

Powerful, fascinating, uplifting

What was one of the most memorable moments of Where Should We Begin? with Esther Perel?

Esther: 'Ok, do you want to be right, or do you want to listen?'

Have you listened to any of the narrator’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I haven't. Esther has a beautiful, soft French accent that provides a calm, safe space for the participants. You can hear the emotion in their voices too. Powerful stuff.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Every episode has a moment of connection, where - despite the particular circumstances of the couple's experiences - their fears and struggles resonated with me personally.

Personal conversations, universal connections

A unique and remarkable listen. As a counselling student I was hooked on the intriguing stories of the clients and the humour of Esther as well as her talent of easing a person into what is for some an uncomfortable experience. Some moments you can laugh and some moments are you have goosebumps from hearing a moment someone has began the process of grieving and letting something go. Well done all involved.

Captivating

Esther makes a lot of sense!..... wish I'd known about her earlier, it definitely makes you look back on your own relationships. It helps you understand that even though experiencing unfaithfulness from a partner is deeply hurtful, there is almost always reasons for their actions, very often it's down to miscommunication/ no communication, but mainly it's to do with the person who's cheating. often when someone has been unfaithful to you, you stay in victim mode, you blame yourself, maybe you weren't sexy enough, beautiful enough, good enough. Esther allows you another view point, that you can only see if you come out of victim mode, and coming out of victim mode is very empowering.

Real cases, real issues, and most importantly different perspectives on the reason. Rather than narrow minded labeling like some of these reviews suggest, this podcasts allows you to see both sides of conflict and miscommunication aiming at empathetic understanding of what everyone goes through and how that can manifest in different behaviors.

Would you consider the audio edition of Where Should We Begin? with Esther Perel to be better than the print version?

I prefer the audible version of books. It makes me understand books better. I hardly read printed books. I have not this book in print either.

What other book might you compare Where Should We Begin? with Esther Perel to, and why?

The Examined Life by Stephen Grosz. This books also gives real life stories that I feel I can connect and understand. However, Esther's book goes even further by providing the true narrative of ordinary people. It is fantastic and so so so useful. Helpfult to all of us.

What does the narrator bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Narrative expressed by the person with feeling and connection

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! I so wanted to finish this recording in one setting, but did not have time but got through so quickly. Now I feel bereft and I want to listen more.
