This book begins with my hard-won freedom, as a divorced woman, by starting my new life in the Highlands area of Louisville – the neighborhood of my dreams. Many women were striking out on their own, at this time. I was eager to join them. As the generation that took women out of the home and into the workplace, our Silent Generation needed more skills in setting boundaries, and taking up for ourselves.

Why can't I stop eating, drinking, smoking, gambling, overspending, watching pornography, cheating on my spouse, yelling at my family or any other addictive pattern I've fallen into?
