Natten till den 1 maj 1987 sköt en sinnesförvirrad ung man fyra medlemmar av sin närmaste familj. De rättspsykiatriskt sakkunniga fastslog att mannan var schizofren paranoid och placerade honom vid Valen sjukhus. Det dröjde dock inte länge förrän han begick sitt första rymningsförsök, vilket skulle komma att följas av flertalet andra försök. Han förflyttades därför till Reitgjerdet sjukhus i Trondheim, som var bättre bevakat. Trots detta lyckades han rymma igen – och den här gången hade han rustat sig med skjutvapen.

Under 1960-talet exploderar användandet av narkotika i norden. Cannabis och kokain introduceras på den svarta marknaden och allt fler unga fastnar i drogträsket. Den 10 juni 1971 står unga Eva Hansen i rättegångssalen och inväntar sin dom. Hon står åtalad för innehav, användning och omsättning av narkotiska medel. Hon är 20 år gammal när hon döms till tre års fängelse.

Året är 1980 och Huddingegruppen vid Stockholmspolisen har precis sprängt en internationell liga som smugglat stora mängder heroin. Efter en period av relativt lugn grips två personer på Kastrup i Köpenhamn, med sammanlagt 135 000 svenska kronor på sig. Att resa med mycket pengar är inte särskilt ovanligt, men de osammanhängande historierna från de två gripna gör att polisens misstankar väcks. En av de två menar att han reser för att titta på en tomt i Bryssel, men när Huddingegruppen börjar undersöka saken verkar det för dem mer troligt att resorna till kontinenten har ett helt annat syfte...
