Afghanistan, 2009. Eighteen-year-old squaddie Briggsy is just three weeks into his first posting in Helmand Province and he's thrilled to be part of the action. But when his Rifle Section loses a man in battle, Briggsy is forced to confront the realities of war. They're the best mates a kid could ask for, and when an epic school trip is announced, they're all properly made up about it. Because school trips are just an excuse to have a big laugh with your mates, right? Erm, wrong.

Jacko Brooks joined the Infantry as a boy soldier and now, at the age of 24 yrs, he has just been badged as a member of 22 SAS Regiment, so despite his enormous mortgage, clapped-out car, and complete lack of funds, he is doing pretty well.

Jacko, Kenny, and Dan are on their way to a drinks party at the British Embassy in Baghdad as a thank you for rescuing Prince Harry. Then, out of nowhere, their Warrior is devastated by an IED (Improvised Explosive Device). Amidst heavy enemy fire Jacko is forced to carry out urgent medical treatment to keep his friends alive until the crash out team arrives. Jacko is just beginning to find his feet as the SAS 'New Boy', when once again, his Troop are crashed out of Baghdad's Green Zone. This time, they are on a fast ball: a Bristish hostage has just been located by the Americans.
