The Invisible Man was the fourth sci-fi novel written by Wells in the 1890s. The main character, Griffin, is one of the intimidating villains in all popular literature. The archetypal "mad scientist," Griffin devotes himself to an obsessive study of optics and realizes his ambition to render livings things permanently invisible. After making a cat invisible, he successfully applies the procedure to himself. After causing chaos in London, he travels to the village of Iping in Sussex and takes up residence in a local hotel.

When a large deposit of an immensely valuable mineral has been located on Earth's moon, an expedition has been sent to mine it in secret. But when the secret gets out, underhanded elements of the people of Mars, Venus, and Earth launch their own secret plot to hijack the claim and make a fortune. It is up to our hero, Gregg Haljan, and his trusted ally Snap Dean to safeguard Earth's acquisition of the Moon treasure and protect the brave men of the expedition from... the BRIGANDS OF THE MOON!

Here, it was almost inevitable that this subject would attract the interest of H.G Wells in the batch of sci-fi novels that he wrote between 1895 and 1901. In Well's story, the vehicle is not a balloon, as in many of the previous accounts, but a sphere made of a mysterious substance, named "cavorite" after its inventor, Cavor, who accompanies the narrator, Bedford, on the trek to the moon. The ascent is made possible by the fact the "cavorite" is, in Well's words, "transparent to gravity."

Camilla Rivers has left her life and love behind to keep herself safe and save Nick Ludlow from torturous worry. After her life is threatened, they both agree it is safer for her to go stay with her father, though Nick has made it clear that he can’t know her location, and no contact between them would be best until it was safe for her to return. She’s devastated upon arriving at the Towers ranch in Montana. Still healing from a gunshot wound, she has to make it through one day at a time.

This magical powder will turn inanimate objects into living things. While demonstrating its power on a stuffed doll made of patchwork, Dr. Pipt accidentally turns his wife and Unc Nunkie to stone. It is up to Ojo to collect the necessary ingredients to destroy the spell and turn them back.

European tourists travel languidly along the Nile River to Abousir, at the southern frontier of Egypt, aboard “a turtle-bottomed, round-bowed stern-wheeler,” the Korosko. But Dervish warriors threaten danger and then attack and kidnap the tourists. In this novel, Doyle explores themes of British Imperialism and a defensive European perspective on North Africa; racial paternalism; and debates on interference with other countries’ politics and religions. This wonderful novel was first published in 1898, long before Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile.

Despite Dorothy's many tales of her adventures in Oz, Aunt Em and Uncle Henry never quite believe her stories. Upon finding out the tornado that destroyed their farmhouse in book 1 (The Wonderful Wizard of Oz) is the cause of her Uncle Henry's horrible debt, Dorothy is determined to help her family. Unbeknownst to Ozma and our friends in Oz, the Nome King is plotting to take over the Land of Oz and retrieve his magic belt that Dorothy took from him in book 3, Ozma of Oz.

Camilla and Nick fall hard. She's finally ready to find love. He is not expecting to. Nick's enemy has been threatening him for a while now. But when the threats become too much, Camilla gives him an ultimatum. Either he reaches out to his estranged family for help with the matter or she can't do this.

Kate doesn't know what to expect when Simon crashes her family vacation. She hasn't seen or heard from her childhood love since he and his family's sudden departure years before, leaving Kate completely confused and devastated. Simon's return has reopened the wounds of heartbreak. As Kate cautiously lets Simon in again, she finds out all sorts of secrets which led to their parting. Being in familiar places takes Kate back, as she relives the memories of her childhood sweetheart and finds that even as a grown woman, she just might not be over him.
