An Adriana and Genie Darling Mystery

New York jewelry designer Genie Darling has returned to her childhood home in quaint Cobblewood Cove for one reason only: to sort through generations of old family heirlooms and hand anything of historical interest over to the local museum. But after a failed mugging attempt, and the appearance of a beautiful but ghostly young stranger in a vintage evening dress, Genie realizes there's something suspicious—and spooky—going on. The glamorous and friendly specter turns out to be Genie's own great-great-aunt Adriana, who died in 1929 in mysterious circumstances.

When your not so very departed great-great-aunt relies on her old belongings to cling to her particular form of spectral life force, what do you do when some of them come up for auction in Tuscany? Travel to Italy, of course! But what Genie Darling expected to be a smooth, if expensive operation, soon becomes a haunting experience.

Genie has her hands full. First, there’s her new gelato-making business. Sure, she has a tireless helper in her great-great-aunt Adriana, and the ghostly flapper is also responsible for their recipes. Second, there's her relationship with Matt. So far it's great, but then he doesn't know about Adriana's presence. To make matters worse, Genie stumbles over the dead body of her mentor Pierre.

Genie and her ghostly great-great-aunt Adriana have been too busy with their gelato business and helping with the restoration of the old speakeasy to notice that something isn't quite right in their small town. Until pranks with touch of the macabre haunt the neighborhood, right before Halloween. But it gets worse. When a locked room murder case points straight at a connection to dark forces, the sleuthing duo fears for the living—and the not-quite so departed. Can they root out the evil in their midst before it ends Adriana’s happy afterlife—forever?
