The Becoming

In the heart of Atlanta, a virus has escaped the CDC and transformed most of the population of the southeastern US into homicidal cannibals. As society rapidly crumbles under the hordes of infected, three people - Ethan, a Memphis police officer; Cade, a former IDF sharpshooter; and Brandt, a lieutenant in the US Marines - band together against the oncoming crush of death and terror.

One year after the Michaluk Virus decimated the southeast, Ethan Bennett and his six companions have become as close as family while facing the trials of living in a drastically changed world. Then a mysterious woman arrives at their safe house in Alabama, pleading for assistance in Atlanta. Despite their suspicions that the woman is hiding important information, Ethan and his friends agree to help. But when they're suddenly forced to flee from the infected, the cohesion the group had cultivated is shattered.

Brandt Evans is floundering. Saddled with leadership of their dysfunctional group, he finds himself dealing with problems he doesn't know how to handle: Remy is grief-stricken and suicidal, Gray is distant and reclusive, and Cade is near death. And things only get worse.

Months after the traumatic events in Atlanta, Kimberly Gellar and her new friends have established Woodside, a walled-in community of survivors led by the best, brightest, and most heroic among them. And a CDC doctor with them has created a promising cure for the virus and tested it on the man Kimberly has begun to fall for, who promptly shows strange and concerning side effects.

When Woodside fell, Remy Angellette and her friends barely escaped with their lives and were left scrambling to find a new place to call home. But Brandt Evans is missing, taken by the very people he called for help. Remy is determined to find him, but she doesn't know where to start looking. And to make matters worse, she's dealing with strange side effects from the cure to the Michaluk Virus that could endanger them all.
