I am from an IT background, working in the software development sector. After leaving college, I worked as a Unix programmer, before starting my own company in 1994, aged 23. Retiring in 2001 to take on a consultancy role, I spent six years as a consultant before taking over my original company in 2007. ICARIS is now the market leader in beneficiary systems in the UK. In 2014 I became a fellow of the British Computer Society (BCS) and in 2016 achieved Chartered IT Professional (CITP) Status and I am now a CITP assessor for the BCS. I was also Chairman of the British Nuclear Test Veterans Association (BNTVA) until 2020, taking over in 2016 and driving the UK charity forward, increasing their social media and online presence by over 16,000% to over one million post reach in 2018. My father, who served in the Royal Navy, was a nuclear test veteran. In 2018, I became a GDPR Practitioner, providing training and seminars on implementing GDPR. In 2019, I graduated as a Clore Leadership fellow, following my participation in the nine-month Clore Emerging Leader course. I have provided training and talks to thousands of people across the world, most recently in the USA, speaking at the 107 National Association of Atomic Veterans annual conference for the third consecutive year. In 2020 I founded LABRATS International, linking Nuclear Communities across the world, the Education, Recognition, and Awareness program reaches out across the globe. www.labrats.international. My interactive style and ability to engage an audience has developed into the Halt to Proceed interactive workshops and presentations. My experience and desire to improve the way people interact with each other is at the heart of the programme. I am married with one son and live in Carmarthen, South Wales. I have a passion for fast cars and I am undertaking a Masters’ Degree.
