Charles Ota Heller is the author of the award-winning memoir, PRAGUE: MY LONG JOURNEY HOME. It is the story of his life as a child hiding from German occupiers in World War II Czechoslovakia, of shooting a Nazi when he was nine years old, of escaping from the Communists, and of two cataclysmic events following the Velvet Revolution which brought him face-to-face with demons of his former life. PRAGUE was awarded the Mark of Quality for exceptional literary merit by Writer's Digest magazine and received honorary mention as best book in its genre at the 2012 Los Angeles Book Festival and was runner-up for the 2012 national independent book-of-the-year in its category. In 2013, Heller's NAME-DROPPINGS: CLOSE ENCOUNTERS WITH THE FAMOUS AND NEAR-FAMOUS, was published by Abbott Press. The memoir tells sometimes humorous, occasionally sad, and always interesting tales of the author's encounters with such luminaries as Clint Eastwood, Dr. Ruth, Bill Clinton, Earl Weaver, Larry Doby, Wernher von Braun, and others. Heller is a successful technology entrepreneur, a former educator and a venture capitalist. Today, he lives in Annapolis, Maryland, where he devotes his time to writing and to serving on a number of boards of directors. His memoir, READY, FIRE, AIM! AN IMMIGRANT'S TALES OF ENTREPRENEURIAL TERROR, was published by BQB/WriteLife Publishing in June 2017. It is the dramatic story of a Holocaust survivor's chase of the proverbial American Dream.
