Yes! I was born the same year women first voted in Montreal, Quebec. A lucky omen for me! Winter of 1948 began my life odyssey that started with a lovely home, affection, good food, and great company with my siblings. These are the details I relied upon, not the nights of sexual abuse, nor the religious oppression taking place within the walls of my super strict Roman Catholic family. I kept my eyes on fun and friendship, not upon the increasing alcoholism of my Mom, nor the chronic absence of my Dad. I became a devout Catholic, an anxious people-pleaser - and a complete stranger to myself. That state lasted a long, long time. In my memoir, A History of a Pedophile's Wife, I detail the way into my marriage but also, much more importantly, I tell how I finally voted - for me!
