Howard’s poems, memoir pieces, and literary criticism have appeared in the Voice Literary Supplement, Massachusetts Review, Multicultural Review and small press poetry journals. White Wife/Blue Baby, her new memoir, looks back on marrying across the color line in sixties Chicago. For many years, she taught literature and writing at area colleges while fighting to open doors for various outsiders: adults, prisoners, and lively but less-than-focused BIPOC teens. As a survivor of sexual abuse, she draws energy from volunteering with SNAP (Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests). Originally from the Midwest, she now lives in the Connecticut woods with her husband and dog.
