John Magee, the author of Kindness Matters, has been referred to as the 21st century Aristotle, with the wisdom of the Dalai Lama yet the looks and humour of Paddy McGuinness. (courtesy of Adrian Bethune). In 2012, he formed Kindness Matters, an education program integrating elements of PSHE and citizenship. Aimed at educational staff, parents and pupils, it draws from positive psychology to offer strategies to lead healthier and happier lives. John’s passion and motivation are to write books, online lessons and resources to support staff, parents and pupils in their mental health and wellbeing. John's latest book, The Happy Tank, will be published by Bloomsbury, realising on March 2nd 2023. It is an applied framework to implement positive psychology across schools. It posits that mental health helps children learn how to self-regulate, cope with change, overcome challenges and adversity, and positively contribute to society. It targets six well-being domains, i.e. Breathing, Reflection, Kindness, Affirmations, Gratitude and Happy Tapping EFT “Emotional Freedom Technique”. Framed in a larger narrative and providing practical and replicable steps, it allows its readers to carry out strategies daily to support their mental health and wellbeing.
