Kirsty Nancarrow is an award-winning journalist who has worked in Australia and the UK during her 30-year media industry career. She is the author of Himalayan Dreams: The Story of Som Tamang and the Co-Director of eMotion Video Training & Production. Kirsty has been a powerful advocate for social justice and gender eqality throughout her career, founding Women in Media Far North Queensland. She has mentored many of Australia's leading journalists and she now empowers people to share their own stories through her media and video training. Kirsty met Som Tamang while she was reporting for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Cairns, Far North Queensland, following the devastating 2015 earthquakes in Nepal. She volunteered as a teacher in his village, Batase in 2016 and 2018, and was inspired by the impact his work through Friends of Himalayan Children and Take on Nepal has had on local children.
