Laurie has spent fifteen years in the Royal Air Force, joining in 1981 and moving from RAF Regiment Gunner to Pilot, after which he spent three years studying English Literature at the University of Bristol. Here, whilst a mature student of thirty-five he acted in the Edinburgh Festival and directed several plays from Wilde's 'Earnest' to Sheriff's 'Journey's End' - going on to take the latter to a local theatre and eventually to Scarborough where it was entered for the National Student Drama Festival. After finishing his degree he trained as a teacher, but wanted to explore acting in more depth, so moved to London to study at East 15 Acting School. He then 'survived' as an actor working as a 'Scooterman' taxi driver and writing about it for the Independent on Sunday in a weekly column, before eventually converting his experiences into drama and directing two of his own plays at the Camden People's and the Hen and Chickens theatres in London (Scooterman 2003 and The Early Days of Disco 2008); at the same time as these artistic endeavours he also pursued a teaching career; diversifying into Media and Film as well as English Literature, before returning to Bristol in 2013 to teach and create in what he considers a less crowded environment. He intends to continue writing books, plays and screenplays as long as someone wants to read them. https://laurietallack.wixsite.com/laurie-tallack https://laurietallack.blogspot.com/
