Louis Kalman, the author of the dark fantasy series Desolada, was born in Akron, Ohio. He has since made his way throughout the United States as a critical care and interventional radiology travel nurse. His first novel, A Blade Through Time, peaked at #25 of all time on Royal Road. When he's not writing or working, he spends his winters on the ski slopes of Colorado, plays chess for ten hour marathon sessions that leave him lower rated than he started, reads voraciously, and explores his current city.
