The winner of six national magazine writing awards, Mark Alan Leslie has written three historical novels, four modern-day mystery/adventure/thrillers, two golf books, a devotional and a Christian self-help book. His first historical novel, "Midnight Rider for the Morning Star" (2008), is based on the life of America's first circuit-riding preacher, Francis Asbury, and won nationwide acclaim. His second historical novel, "True North: Tice's Story," (2015) was a Publisher's Weekly Featured Book and told the tale of a slave who escaped from Kentucky to Ohio and was connected to the Underground Railroad to escape to Canada. His third historical novel, "The Crossing," was published in March 2017 and focuses on how the Ku Klux Klan coming to a Maine town in the 1920s tears at the fabric of the community before it is overcome. His mystery/thriller, "Chasing the Music," (2016) is the first of a series for heroes Dr. Kat Cardova, an archaeologist, and black-ops hero Max Braxton. From a dig in Israel Max and Kat follow clues to discover King David's music of the Psalms, being attacked by Muslim jihadists from Israel to Petra, Ireland, Wales and back to Israel. The second Max-and-Kat novel, "The Three Sixes," will republished in 2017. Leslie's "The Last Aliyah," a action/thriller, as published in late 2016, taking readers on a look into the future when the United Nations bans Jewish immigration to Israel and Jews try to escape America through a modern-day Underground Railroad. "The Three Sixes," the second Max-and-Kat adventure, deals with what would happen if the United States, beset by Islamic terrorist attacks and under the leadership of an untested, newly elected President, discovers in the inaugural address that despite his proclamations to the opposite, the President would acquiesce to all the demands of Israel’s enemies? Terror cells are hidden in every state in America. Do they go even as deep as the inner sanctum of the White House? A hero’s instincts, a heroine’s expertise, and a twist of Yale students’ skills must uncover the devastating secrets and save the country. Make that the world. In the third Max-and-Kat novel, "Operation Jeremiah's Jar," the United Nations has claimed Jews have no historic claim on Jerusalem. But 2,600-year-old proof of Jewish ownership exists. Kat’s goal—find the prophet Jeremiah’s property deed to land outside Jerusalem, which would fulfill a prophetic promise to Jeremiah and the nation today.Meanwhile, when the President decides to move the American embassy to Jerusalem, Arab jihadists explode in fury, targeting the heart of the Jewish nation. Max is called in to guard the ambassador, but his first duty is to protect Kat at all costs. Leslie's career as a newspaper and magazine editor and writer spanned 30 years before he began writing books full-time — all from a Christian worldview. He was the founding editor of Golf Course News (now Golf Industry), which became a leading golf-industry publication in his 12 years at the helm, and has written two golf books filled with quotes and stories from his interviews with icons like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gene Sarazen, Sam Snead, Patti Berg, Kathy Whitworth, Gary Player and Ben Crenshaw.
