I bring a unique perspective shaped by two completely different worlds. I grew up in a small town on welfare, poor, constantly moving—five different elementary schools, all within the same town. My mother was young, vibrant, and raising six kids alone, plus our 'sort-of-live-in' married man—my daddy. We often joked that while Momma wasn't married, Daddy sure was. (This true story is the basis of my first writing, a memoir titled "Life Is A Funny Thing..."). Fast forward to adulthood, and life looked very different. I married my high school sweetheart, landed a solid job, and we bought a home in an upscale suburb. I became the classic 'soccer mom,' cruising in a Mercedes or BMW, tipping housekeepers and gardeners—but always with one foot still grounded in where I came from. Now retired and well-traveled, I carry a lifetime of stories—some joyful, some painful. But I share them all with the hope of sparking something we need more of: the politics of laughter. Like many, I have also read writings by famous Literary Authors like Hemingway, Lee, Poe, Steinbeck, Twain, Wells, etc. I have no knocks against those authors, nor their writings, but mostly, their stories were not relatable for my life or people who have similar paradigms like mine. And so, I decided that within the realm of literature, there is also room for me/us. I am super proud of my first Coffee Table Book which features SIX short stories, plus TWO column reads. Make sure to have another person read this so you can share and debate your perspectives. A personal note - this is my favorite writing (so far). Often there is more to learn - so I share some jewels that aren't usually spoken, yet, we all want our daughters to know. This was my epic post retirement adventure hiking through Spain.
