Steve Ellis is a writer, narrator, musician and English Language Teacher. He taught in Italy and Turkey, managed Summer Schools in the UK and worked for the British Council in Thailand and Malaysia as a Teacher Trainer, including participating in ‘The Power of Reading Project'. This promoted use of illustrated storybooks as a learning aid for children to read, including using songs and role-play to make English language learning effective and fun. In Steve’s childhood, reading was a fun activity to be enjoyed, not forced. Books, comics, magazines were the key to new worlds, other times, different lives and cultures. They stirred imagination; they gave answers and also raised questions. Steve learned from reading while learning to read. The joy of reading soon led to a love of making up stories and writing, and many years later, that enthusiasm continues. He seeks to pass it on to other children, as a writer, musician and as an educator Before becoming a teacher, he wrote and staged amateur musical theatre productions for children in the UK. Steve now lives in Banbury, England, with a load of books, two pianos, three guitars, four computers and a host of musical and video hardware and software, which often keep him up late at night. Thankfully, an app on his phone gives him a daily nudge get out and do some exercise, which is not always welcome in a typical British winter.
