About the author: Wendy A. Schofield, known by her middle name Ana, was born in Northern England in 1942. She married a scientist in 1963 — and in 1964 they moved to Southern California, where they had three children. After 7 years of marriage and a divorce, Ana moved with the children to Washington State. Between 1973-77, she completed a B.A. degree in Jungian Psychology and Creative Therapies at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. To support the family, Ana facilitated Dream Reflection Seminars and became a Licensed Massage Practitioner. Between 1982-83 Ana studied Laban Movement Analysis through the dance department at the University of Washington and became a Certified Movement Analyst. The idea to produce educational videos occurred to Ana by chance in 1985. While having dinner with her children in a restaurant, the waitress overheard Ana telling her kids that she had just bought a video camera. The waitress said, “why don’t you make a training program on food handling safety? The one at the Health Department is very outdated.” Sparked by this idea, Ana went to the local HD and was told yes they indeed needed an update on the training program but there weren’t any funds to pay for it. However, if Ana could create one independently she may receive funds from selling it to health departments across America. Ana took out a small business loan and off she went. With the aid of experienced videographers and editors, Ana learned how to create health-related training programs. Her first one entitled, ‘Your Health in Our Hands: Our Health in Yours. The Do’s and Don’t of Food Handling’’ was purchased by all 50 state health departments and most county health departments, five provinces in Canada and The World Health Organization requested a copy. This set her in motion, based on her training as a movement analyst and body therapist, to write, direct and produce training programs on stress management for 911 operators, bus drivers, and healthcare workers. This gave her the knowledge to tackle producing documentaries. Her first being, ’Tibet a Seed for Transformation: The Chinese/Tibetan Situation’. After the 911 attack, and all she had experienced as a child and later learned about the horror of war, Ana embarked on studies concerning conflict management in 2001 at Antioch McGregor University in Yellow Springs, Ohio. In 2003, Ana was awarded an M.A. degree in Conflict Resolution and became a certified mediator, which she practiced for ten years in Washington State. Her seven articles about mediation experiences can be viewed by googling Ana Schofield at Mediate.com Today Ana spends her time writing, watercolor painting, bird watching, gardening, and with her three children, five grandchildren, and friends. This story was completed in 2018. Her life has been and still is, filled with unexpected and creative adventures.
