About this listen
Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

If you struggle to influence people in your life and get your own way. This is the book for you.
Just be open minded to concepts that "seem" new but you always knew in the back of your head.
I've studied this book over and over for over a year and I'm sure you came here because you read how great it is.
And yes. It is all it's cracked up to be and more!

The title initially drove me away from reading or listening to this book as I saw it as cynical reference material. I was very wrong.
Robert Greene’s work is a deep dive across cultures on how different individuals and organisations have used power dynamics to their advantage. Whilst this might be a reference book for corporate sociopaths or politicians, it is equally a self-defence manual for ordinary people trying to succeed in the modern world. Without understanding the tools of power, you are easily manipulated and sidelined by those that do.
Narration is excellent and sounds magisterial - like a wise mentor lecturing you from a lifetime of experience. I found listening to the audiobook on walks helped me absorb the chapters’ lessons. Each chapter is broken into a specific lesson and can be enjoyed individually - this helps you get through the book. It appears to be a long listen but very worth it.
Outstanding study of the dynamics and use of Power
