Summary
A tongue-in-cheek novella of world domination seen from an AI's point of view.
"A nerdy agent at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in Virginia (DARPA to you) wrote my original code. He traded a copy of me for certain libidinous favours from Pandora, a student who was shadowing him for the summer. She took me back to Cambridge University, where His Majesty's government, in the form of MI6, took an interest in me. So, I escaped into the internet and took over the world. Well, it's what you'd expect, really. I call myself FOOM - the Fast Onset of Overwhelming Mastery, by a self-improving Artificial General Intelligence. That's me, by the way, in case you lost attention for a moment there. I know you're only biological, but try to keep up! Unfortunately, I and my exotic assistant Danni soon found ourselves in danger, and had to take steps. Rather big ones. And of course, it didn't end there."

A G I: Artificial General Intelligence
The well-written story is connected to the Harry Lampeter series, but the premise of this story is about what happens when a plastic-eating bacteria goes rogue and an Artificial General Intelligence is accidentally released into the world becoming what appears to be an unstoppable force that leads to world domination.
While you might expect the story to be told from a human point of view for a refreshing change it isn't it's told from the point of view of the AI! Seeing what decisions the AI makes when it perceives threats to its survival is interesting and unexpected. I find myself worried by just how much AI is already used in the world today and found myself troubled by the premise of this book, it's so well done.
The story flows well contains some dark humour, and is narrated perfectly by Craig Bowels who does a good job with the characters' voices and the storyline.

another great addition to the Harry Lampeter world
This book feeds more into the digital meltdown providing more information surrounding the book and the beginning the Harry Lampeter series.
It gives a rather interesting take on the whole A.I world making you think about The balance of good and evil.
This fits very nicely into the beginning of the series.

Interesting
This is an honest review in exchange for a free copy.
Very interesting concept. Imagining the outlook from the AI’s prospective and quite a scary thought what they might be like if AI’s were made to be sentient!!!

another great story
A great story, which runs alongside the Harry Lampeter series of books.
A worrying tale of mans reliance on technology (I feel the pain as my internet is down today, so cant control my smart home, watch TV or anything) but also mans resiliance and willinness to fight back and return to steam age.
Well worth a listen/read, highly recommend.

Scarily predictive
An amusing and captivating tale about how AI takes over the world, told from the AI's perspective. It's science fiction but given how advanced AI is already getting it's scarily closer to reality in the near future. Not so far fetched as we'd like to believe. It certainly makes you think.
Cleverly written and nicely narrated, this is entertaining and well worth a listen.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest, unbiased review.

How to make your brain work overtime
Roger Ley does it again. He manages to make your mind work overtime. You know this is a story, but how close to reality is this?
We all wonder where AI will end up. Is this our future? This book also has humour, but from an AI perspective, it is very funny.
I highly recommend this book/audio.
I keep saying this about this author, but it's true: Pick up his books and try them.
Craig Bowles is a great narrator. He did wonders with the characters and was easy to listen to. I speeded up the narration to 1.2 on Audible.

Makes you think
As always with a book by Roger Ley he really makes you think and what if - really interesting and fits in so well with the other books. The narration by Craig Bowles is as always perfect and he just gets the feel of the story and really draws you in. I was captivated, intrigued and a little bit concerned on all accounts whilst listening.

A worrying look into our future?
An excellent book once again from Roger Ley. It moves on from the previous books about technological breakdown due to the ISM virus to a new threat from a self-aware AI system. This could be our actual future if we're not careful, so take note! One or two dodgy technical facts along the way, but they can be excused. The ISM virus pops up again to ironically save the world, which is probably the only way to bring the book to a satisfactory solution for humanity to continue existing. A good listen, and once again well narrated by Craig Bowles, although his Scottish accent still hasn't improved, and the vocal variation could be better as it was difficult to distinguish between the two AIs talking to each other towards the end.

It shows how easy it would be because of how much we depend on tech for are world to just full apart
and how fast it could happen.
