About this listen
Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only. The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch. After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist.
Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible.
After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever.
The bet does more than expose Persephone's failure as a goddess, however. As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the Dead grows - and it's forbidden.
Contains mature themes.

I just can't...
I only got a few chapters in. the narrator does this voice for every male character that sounds exactly like Jane Lynch and I can't get past it. Jane Lynch cosplaying Hades will never be sexy or intimidating. Also, the main character sounds like she's perpetually out of breath. I want to hand her an inhaler. I can't even speak to the story itself because I didn't get far enough to make a fair judgement call.

Throughly enjoyable
I took a chance on this and I'm so glad. I listened to all these 1 after the other and am waiting on the next edition eagerly.
I see a lot of comments about it being cringey and I really didn't get that at all. I know the main character is a trope type naive woman but the whole point is her overcoming that and the fact she never really was weak. She was made to be weak and the whole time had been letting people make her lower than. She develops into herself and you want it for her.
I loved the reimagined Greek gods and overall just found it enjoyable and silly and spicy.
This isn't a serious series. They made me laugh and smile and blush and just overall want the best for Persephone so thats a win from me.

The spice is so nice!
The performance of this audiobook was incredible, I’ve found it so hard to get into audiobooks previously but this one had me so struggling to press pause!
The story was a lovely retelling and the spice was so so nice.

Enjoyed this
I really enjoyed this storyline, however I would of preferred a little bit more (smut) it was quite clean if you know what I mean, I think a bit more intensity would of gone a long way

Not the best in terms of character development
Character development and wider story line are a but lackluster, not terrible by any stretch but a bit lacking, nit on a part with TA White for example. But an easy read and decent narrator.
