About this listen

Former Soviet Secret Service agent Leo Demidov has built himself a new life as a civilian with his wife Raisa, and their two teenage daughters, Elena and Zoya. The Soviet Union is a country trying to reassert itself after the murderous excesses of Stalin and the chaos of the following years, and as the Cold War continues powers inside Russia seek to topple their great enemy, the United States of America. Communist allies within the United States will prove vital players in this game of intrigue and revolution.

Raisa and their two daughters travel to the United States on a diplomatic mission, but a horrifying tragedy destroys everything Leo and Raisa have built. Exiled from the Soviet Union and separated from his family, Leo's quest takes him through the stark wilderness of Afghanistan, reawakening all his old instincts and forcing him to confront his demons.©2011 Tom Rob Smith (P)2022 Simon & Schuster

From child 44, secret speech and this, Agent 6!have been a fantastic read/listen.

Well detailed and classic spy novels that have you gripped from the start.

The narration is well paced and well read. However, having to listen to the narrator loudly swallow at the end of each sentence is quite off putting. Likewise the whistling nose breathing is quite annoying. (I apologise in advance if you have not noticed this, and it’s now all you can hear)
I’d urge that not to put you off a great story

A great trilogy I’ve thoroughly enjoyed.

Not as gripping as the previous two (although I may be fatigued since I have listened to them back to back). Another romping fast paced spy thriller. It suffers a little as the second book did from needing to raise the stakes from book to book turning Leo from a man caught by circumstance into something on the way to a Jason Bourne or a Jack Reacher. It never quite falls into anything as plain or obvious as that though retaining the charm of the previous two books

A good third instalment

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the whole series, perfectly narrated and very atmospheric, with characters that you root for.

Great third book in series

This is the 3rd book in the trilogy, and probably the one I enjoyed the most. I like a trilogy as you get to know the characters. Book one set the scene, book two I found less interesting and did not hold my interest. This book surprised me in a good way. I would recommend this set. I really enjoyed the setting and when the books were set. The narration was clear and interesting. It loses a star overall for the less captivating second book.

Surprising twists in this last book

If you're like me, these books have been enjoyable to listen to and perfectly narrated (even with some questionable accents in this performance).
Agent 6 doesn't reach the heights of the first two books, and feels like a forced end, than something more natural.

A fine, if flat, end to the trilogy

Jumps about all over the place was difficult to keep track and when it flew forward 7+ years it lost all storyline. Don’t t bother. The other 2 books were good. Author should of stopped there.

Where was the story

I’ve loved previous books but this one simply didn’t have the same urgency or clear quest for our hero. Pleasant enough but not a thriller for me

Never really gripped me to be honest
