About this listen
The follow-up to the hugely popular science fiction action-adventure All Systems Red
Artificial Condition continues The Murderbot Diaries, a science fiction series that tackles questions of the ethics of sentient robotics. It appeals to fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans. "As a heartless killing machine, I was a complete failure."
It has a dark past - one in which a number of humans were killed. A past that caused it to christen itself "Murderbot." But it has only vague memories of the massacre that spawned that title, and it wants to know more.
Teaming up with a Research Transport vessel named ART (you don't want to know what the "A" stands for), Murderbot heads to the mining facility where it went rogue.
What it discovers will forever change the way it thinks.

Cleverly done…
I do like a good series where I can get my teeth into. Never thought that a MurderBot would be that thing…

Who doesn't love sassy bots? :D
Wonderfully written and narrated. The characters are so funny and sassy, it was a joy to listen to. Such a refreshing sci-fi series!

Artificial Condition
A lively and fun tale of discovery for Murder Bot. The first 3 books were on a free offer but to be honest I will be buying the forth and in all likelihood the full series. Couldn't put it down.

Fun read. Formula gets bit tiresome after a while
I would say this is fun science fiction. I don't think you should class this as hard science fiction.
is it fun to read / listen. yes.
is it a playful take on science fiction.. yes.
A powerful killer robot with the personality of a teenage girl (learning to come to terms with emotional awkwardness) being the name of the game here.
it was fun to listen to. you can relate to some aspects and smile at some of the impressions. slowly coming to realise all the mindless , cold machines have deep rooted personalities and is that fun yes. just like toy story movie was fun knowing all the toys had personalities. is it coming across as realistic. sadly not after a while.
and then the story is simple, gun yes but simple, with somehow everything coming together and the world is rosy. because wow. the bot can think to bypass all security and it just ... happens... just like a Hollywood movie. but let's not get caught up on technicalities.
I think it's a fun read. I have to stop here with book 2 though. I like the fact these are short novellas. I don't think I can do more of the same right now.
maybe I will come back to it later for fun.

Great
Having enjoyed the first, but had some reservations about the narration, I have to say what a massive improvement this is. To the point where I'm wondering if the somewhat monotone narration of the first book was simply keeping in character.
More relaxed, more humour and an overall great little book. Book 3, here we come.

Hilarious main character and good story
Unexpected turns of events, hilariously awkward moments and well read by a narrator with a pleasant voice. Recommended!

Gold
Written by an anthropologist, the insights a career and understanding likely provide, i presume, help to speak to the story and the writing. Another great piece, 7 more to go :)

Brilliant series
Normally I am limited with audiobooks because I am quite picky with narrators. This series is wonderfully read and constantly gripping. I cannot wait for the next installment

Great SF
I can see why Ann Leckie gave her recommendation There were echoes of Imperial Radch. All in all a good listen.
