About this listen
Geralt of Rivia is on a mission to save his ward, Ciri, and with her the world, in this third novel in the best-selling Witcher series that inspired the Netflix show and video games.
The Wizards Guild has been shattered by a coup and, in the uproar, Geralt was seriously injured. The Witcher is supposed to be a guardian of the innocent, a protector of those in need, a defender against powerful and dangerous monsters that prey on men in dark times.
But now that dark times have fallen upon the world, Geralt is helpless until he has recovered from his injuries.
While war rages across all of the lands, the future of magic is under threat and those sorcerers who survive are determined to protect it. It's an impossible situation in which to find one girl - Ciri, the heiress to the throne of Cintra, has vanished - until a rumour places her in the Niflgaard court, preparing to marry the Emperor.
Injured or not, Geralt has a rescue mission on his hands.

With less of a focus on Siri, we mainly explore with Geralt and his newly acquired fellowship. I suppose it's hardly an original premise but it's a strong choice for the series and gives it some much needed focus and direction.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If you are a fan of the Witcher game series then these are a must-listen. Even if you are not, it would appeal to Game of Thrones fans I suspect. What other book might you compare Baptism of Fire to, and why?
Game of Thrones? What about Peter Kenny’s performance did you like?
He does a good Geralt and Dandelion. If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
No idea, something with swords I suspect.Any additional comments?
Whilst I prefer the Witcher short stories, these are still worth a listen. The story is most entertaining when it focuses on Geralt, and less so when the Game of Thrones style plotting goes on, because that invariably involves people sitting around in rooms talking about politics when you just want to go out and quest and find monsters to kill.Entertaining journey with the Witcher
