Great Book, Great Series

TL;DR —
If you're wanting to listen to sex scenes and/or lengthy lists of figures, then this audiobook probably isn’t for you. Otherwise, I'd strongly recommend it.

Full Review —
I've really enjoyed the Wake of the Ravager series so far, even more so than I have Systems of the Apocalypse, which was my introduction to the works of Macronomicon.

This series checks a lot of the standard boxes for a LitRPG novel (straight white male protagonist, reincarnation, overpowered hero, empire-building, harem romance, etc)...

But it does do some things a bit differently from the majority of similar series. For example, the various nations of the world are actually culturally and ethnically distinct from one another (rather than basically all just being mediaeval Europeans), and the protagonist's two lovers are bi, and just as attached to one another as they are to him, which is a take on the harem dynamic that I've rarely come across.

Also, on a personal note, I'm not particularly interested in sex scenes in books (whether audio or paper), as they always come across really cringeworthy to me. So I appreciate that Macronomicon avoids including those.

Lastly, I'd like to add that in my opinion, one of the big flaws of translating LitRPG from paper to audio format is the stat menus. Listening to someone reading long lists of numbers gets old pretty quick. Of course, those are a key part of the genre, so their inclusion can't be avoided really. That said, I do appreciate that Macronomicon keeps them pretty succinct, and doesn’t have the protagonist checking his status every five minutes, as some LitRPG authors are fond of doing.

so much fun

first, the bad, the book starts like it's the next chapter in book 2, no introduction, no attempt to catch you up, just straight forward, so listen to the last hour of boon 2 before starting.

the characters felt just as you expect after the first 2 books.
same with the rest of the world.
the story is smooth and entertaining.
the ending felt rushed, it could have done with a bit more fleshing out and time to grow.

Steve did amazing work as he always does, but this one was better than even his high standards
