About this listen
In the first century AD, the Roman Empire faces a new threat from its long-standing enemy Parthia. Parthia is vying with Rome for control of Palmyra an officially neutral kingdom. Palmyra's royal household is on the brink of open revolt, and so a task force under the command of experienced soldiers Macro and Cato is dispatched to defend its king and guard its borders.

I agree with all previous comments
Why was this abridged?
such a total waste !!
I love this series this book is good in hard copy but this abridged audible version is just not up to the standard of the previous books

Why is this abridged?
I hate that this book has been abridged. I want to hear the whole book not the edited highlights. Like the story and the characters but felt it rushed along (I didn't realise the book was abridged at first). Please in future give both unabridged and abridged options for those of us who wish to choose the whole book.Ta!

Not his best book
Very short book, the story is very thin, full of stereotypes and stilted dialogue. The love story was rushed and not believable at all. The characters are just one dimensional. My least favourite Eagles book. Narration is also poor with weird trumpet sounds - it's an audiobook, not a dramatisation..

Really short, very poor
This is the first disappointment in the Cato and Makro series for me. The story is thin, rushed, lacking in any depth and it feels like something just thrown together. The narrator failed to capture the characters like other narrators have. Genuinely disappointed. Hope the next book is better
