About this listen

Audiobook four of the Ciaphas Cain series.

Listen to it because:

It's a tale of Cain alone (well, except for Jurgen, but he hardly counts), surrounded by enemies and desperate for a good cup of tanna tea....

The story:

Once again, reluctant hero Commissar Cain is catapulted into glory in the fourth instalment of this tremendously popular series. Escaping from a disastrous space battle, the commissar and his malodorous sidekick Jurgen crash-land behind enemy lines. Even the sly Cain can't avoid a straight fight this time, as the only way out is to round up what few troops they can find and fight their way back to safety. Unfortunately, hundreds of thousands of barbaric alien orks stand in their way.

Not the best but still entertaining

Pretty simple story, not as good as predecessors but fun none the less. Great tongue in cheek presentation as always

One more excellent book and performance

Great book and performance as usual! The most relatable character in the 40K universe doing what he does best.

Cains first fight with Orcs

You don’t need me to say how god this book is, it’s a Cain book for fathers sake 😉 all the usual Cain and Jurgen interactions which are a pure delight

Cain On form, as usual.

The Cain stories are some of the most...down to earth in 40k. No superhuman powers, no ‘death or glory’ and the usual zealotry. Cain’s thought are probably the ones you’d identify with the most. He’s mostly wondering what the hell is going on, and how can he best escape the situation, no ‘the emperor is with me, I’ll die with honour’ hero crap. Although he inevitably comes up smelling of roses, and we all know someone like that!
