About this listen
The Night Lords - traitors and killers who use fear as a weapon - face threats from within and without as they struggle to rebuild their Legion and continue to fight the Long War.
Listen to it because:
It's an assured and confident second novel from Aaron Dembski-Bowden that kicks off one of the most acclaimed and beloved series in Black Library history - and it's a chance to see the Long War from the Night Lords' perspective!
The story:
The Night Lords were once among the most potent forces of the Imperium, Space Marines who used fear itself as their weapon. Now, cast adrift from the Emperor's light and hunted as heretics after their monstrous betrayal, the Night Lords clad themselves in symbols of death and fight the Long War, bringing pain and terror to all who worship the corpse-god of Terra.
A summons from Warmaster Abaddon sends these rebels on a dangerous journey that leads inexorably to a conflict with the Emperor's chosen warriors, the Blood Angels.
Written by Aaron Dembski-Bowden. Running time 13 hours and 5 minutes. Narrated by Andrew Wincott.

Great
Great performance, great story, still for me the best performed trilogy in the entire black library.

What a ride!
Wow! What an exciting novel this is full of action and likeable characters.
The tone is very dark so it might not appeal to everyone but I think it is intentional here since we are reading about one of the traitor legions and their somber thoughts about their past, present and future.
I look forward to read the rest of the novels in this series.
Also congratulations to the narrator, really well done job!

Every traitor legion deserves a book this good
The best review I can give is that I was painting Night Lords by the books end. They may now be my favourite legion (just don't tell my Death Guard)

Soul hunter
A compelling narrative about one of the most interesting traitor space marines. A great ensemble of characters who are interwoven within an engaging plot . Ava Dominus Nox

Was sceptical at first...
I had my own perceptions of the Night Lords I had gained from bits of lore here and there and appearances in other books, so really thought I knew what I was getting. But I couldn't have been more wrong. It really gives you a whole new view on the traitor legions and how they operate with one another, as well as making the Night Lords themselves feel like a very conflicted and complicated legion.
Can't wait to listen to the next installment in the series.

Night Lords
I was blown away by this story, I was not expecting it to be so good.
I really felt for the character's and wanted them to win even though I don't usually like the traitor legions.
I will be buying the rest of the series

Excellent now onto book two
Other than gaunt, cain, and eisenhorn/ravenor or SOT/heresy books I find most 40k books hard work and much prefer OW/AOS for story and writing, some of the newer primaris marine stuff is pretty embarrassing to be honest but this is excellent, great descriptive story, characters you actually care about and an understandable and twisting plot line that can go in any direction and still surprise you, I’m starting to understand why ADB has a decent following looking forward to part 2 of trilogy

Ave Dominus Nox
The narrator's voice is perfect for this. Aaron does a really good job of making the Night Lords likeable and throws in quite a few good moments and interesting bits of lore. Really good example of the genre.
