About this listen

After defending the Sanctum, hearth and home of the Jackal Sect, Luca and his disciples have worked hard to establish a foothold on their little island.

The Skalds remain undealt with, however, and the Wylish folk face an unforgiving winter. Without the meat and herbs Luca harvested, many would have already died from starvation and sickness. And the cold will only deepen with time.

Luca's shouldered a monstrous burden. In addition to extending his protection to the exiles, the cultivator has taken on a most improbable task: raising the nascent Jackal Sect to a position of power.

One of seven in Andaya abroad, Luca's sect lacks what its six sister sects have aplenty. They have few resources, limited manpower, and far too little time to amend these shortcomings.

Most dire of all, their deity is young. Though Leshra's wit is sharp, her own powers fall well short of the gods Dai and Ro.

The Chaos Monks will not let the theft of the Divinity Scroll remain unchallenged. With all the trials Luca faces, he has no choice but to strive for greater power.

He's set his eyes on the island's interior. There lies priceless reagents, the potential to make up for the lack imposed by their isolation, and if he plays his cards right, the boon of much-needed allies.

First Fist is a progression fantasy series containing elements of wuxia/cultivation, light and creamy LitRPG, sect- and base-building, light crafting, and epic fantasy. While this book contains cussing and graphic violence, it does not contain explicit or sexual content.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

Loved the humour, the character development and the subplots that bode well for the layers of storytelling to come, all without feeling overly dense or necessarily complicated. I want more!

A Brilliant Blend of Cultivation, Humor and Adventure!

I loved the first book, and Confluence of Fates blew me away. The characters are so well drawn, starting with Luca, Talia, and Bodo, but there are so many more. The balance of sect life, alchemy, and action—whether fighting beasts or warriors—is expertly crafted, making the story incredibly engaging.

I felt deeply connected to the island and the islanders of all ages through Luca. Despite his struggles, he draws strength from his past to forge a better future while still caring for those he left behind.

The author paints each scene vividly, making it easy to visualize the world. Their talent for writing action and fight scenes is remarkable, making every battle thrilling and intense.

The detailed appendices at the end are a fantastic addition, and the excellent narration by Rebecca Woods and Daniel Wisniewski makes such a perfect pairing. I can't wait for book 3—this series is already shaping up to be a standout. If you love well-written cultivation stories with characters you care about and a well-thought-out system, this is a must-read.

A brilliantly written story

Book 2 doing exactly what a book 2 should, progressing the story, progressing the characters, expanding the story and the world building and managing to do so within a wonderfully written and exciting book. The ongoing story of Luca and the Jackal sect, guided (kind of) by their deity, Leshra and their struggles to adapt with their banishment on Wylish Island and all the trouble that brings. It’s a big book, with not an ounce of fat on it. The duel narration of Daniel Wisniewski and Rebecca Woods is fantastic.
