About this listen

Doomed to die. And die again.

Dark Diamond is the first in a high-octane space opera trilogy, Time’s Shadow. From Neal Asher, creator of the Polity universe.

‘Infinitely entertaining’ – Locus Magazine

Somebody is trying to kill Captain Blite, but each attempt ends in unexpected failure. All Blite knows is that a black diamond – left to him by the dark AI Penny Royal – is somehow the cause of his unlikely survival.

Each failed attempt on Blite’s life generates temporal anomalies, drawing the scrutiny of the ruthless Mobius AI Straeger, who craves the power and possibilities the diamond holds. But they also draw the attention of the legendary Polity agent Ian Cormac, whose skills and destructive reputation may make him Blite’s only hope. Caught in the crossfire of galactic forces, Blite must uncover the true nature of the dark diamond before it causes his destruction . . .

I my opinion Mr Asher is the best Sci-fi writer alive.
This was excellent, Some of my favourite characters doing what they do best. Awesome narration from Peter Noble . I could not put this down. Brilliant

O.M.G. what a rush

Fast paced, packed with action and kept me on the edge for countless hours. It's one of these rare books that you cannot put away once you start. One of the best Neal's books I've read.

Military hard sci-fi at its best

Please get a better narrator. He completely distracts from the story. No where near as good as many others. Shame as I live Neil Asher as a story especially the Ian Cormac novels

The tone of the narrator makes the story fade in and out

... Ian Cormac, Praedor, War Dinners and the Brass Man to name but a few. Time travel rigourously explored as only Neal Asher can.

Classic Polity story...

I was looking forward to this but it is immensely disappointing. The slow unnatural narration destroy any energy that is in Asher's writing. It's impossible to know who chose to record in this dull over-emphatic style but they did a very good writer a disservice.

Odd narration makes this too hard to listen to
