I love John Scalzi books, but as well as excited I'm always a little worried when a new one comes out - what if I don't like it, what if it's not as good as the rest of his work - how on earth can he write a book about the moon turning to cheese that isn't either a fairy tale or just downright stupid? Well he did. Forget the whole how and why it happened, and concentrate on the characters and their reactions to it (characterisation and humour being 2 of the things I like best in Scalzis' stories) and enjoy.

As ever Wil Wheaton (who for my money is one of the best narrators in the business) is the voice of John Scalzi, and imbibes the warmth and humour of the book into the spoken word.

I was kinda startled when this turned up and was a full 10-hour plus novel rather than a novella - the premise seemed unlikely to support a full novel. It did, and is both funny and clever (and even moving). Nonetheless I ended up feeling a little unsatisfied: it's told as a long series of vignettes with different protagonists, so you stay with people just enough to start really caring about them and then they're gone. Scalzi groups this novel conceptually with Starter Villain and the Kaiju Preservation Society; I'd say the latter is the best of the three, in that case. Wil Wheaton does his usual job. I like his performances on the whole, though they get a bit samey and his accents (especially his "British" accent) have to be accepted with humour. Overall I really enjoyed it, I recommend it, but I can't give it the full five stars.

The moon turns to cheese, an unexpected event, sounds intriguing. However, what follows is less a novel and more a lot of short stories with the moon as the consistent thread. I like the author's books, but this one misses the target as it's too fragmented.

I really enjoyed the frankly silly concept, and was pleasantly surprised to see just how many hours of story I was getting. I did have to adjust my listening style somewhat to account for the many different characters and almost short story approach to new chapters but once I was in the groove it was all good. The ending was somewhat predictable but it made me laugh, and really, how else could you tie things in a bow?
As a narrator, Will Wheaton is as Will Wheaton does, as always. I enjoyed the performance. The volume was a little annoying as regular speech just sits in between 2 volume settings which are too quiet, or too loud. especially when Will wants to emphasize something and talks really quickly and loudly. He's like an excitable puppy and if you can cope with that, you'll enjoy it just fine.
All in all, another great story. Loads of fun. I'd absolutely recommend it!

I usually love John scalzi’s books but this one is not my favourite. It was funny and I enjoyed it, but I wish it had been a little more cohesive.
It is always a joy to listen to Wheaton narrate, so the performance was top notch as always. The book just didn’t tickle the funny bone as much as “redshirts” or “agent to the stars” which are my favourite scalzi books.

A moon made of cheese, turns out to be fromageageddon. This audio title takes a 'serious' (and somewhat surprising) look at what might happen if the moon turned to cheese. Obviously funny. Don't take it too seriously. Wil presents it marvelously. Quite a bit of swearing in it, in case you have young ears nearby while you're listening, but otherwise it's an easy listen. Popcorn for your ears. Enjoy!

What if the moon turned to cheese? Through interwoven stories this book explores that. Entertaining, funny, thought provoking. I don't want to give too much away but since finishing it I've been thinking "oh hang on THAT means....." and seeing lots of sides to it that I didn't pick up when listening.

I've enjoyed all of the previous John Scalzi books, but this one just seemed flat. Will Weaton does a good job as usual, but he can't do much with this one. It's a bit cheesy TBH.
