Along the way we hear how Wobble navigated chronic alcoholism and marital breakdown and has emerged as a national treasure.

Fascinating insight into an eventful life/career
This is a great insight into Wobble's long and varied career, and provides a fascinating background to the various artists across genres that he has flavoured with ultra-low dub bass. Also a revealing insight into the changes in UK society, particularly in the East London he grew up in, and all the scrapes he has gotten into along the way, plus the challenges in his personal life and the music industry.
Important to note, I listened to this at 1.5x speed to make it sound more like John's lively, natural manner of speaking. 1.0x speed is far too slow, hence one of the earlier negative reviews, I think.

obviously a bass player
I've been checking you out since I was 17. 31 years later I buy your audible book. I wasn't disappointed. just a shame you are a Tottenham Fan.... That changes things under the surface. Millwall.x

Great story well told
Brilliant story of a strongly principled man who ploughs his own furrow. Wobble is a great musician, but is also a proper man. Spending this last week with him was really enjoyable and enlightening. I'd recommend this to anyone.

A book worth reading
I will revisit some of the most salient concepts.

Fascinating and Brutally Honest .
I saw John give talk and insight to the book at Trade Winds festival , North Sheilds Sept 2024 and although being totally taken by what he said did buy the book till Feb 25 .
I am so glad I have had the book on my list and finally buy and have it read by the Author .
The honesty and integrity of the guy was never in question as over the years I’ve read interviews and watched interviews but to be filled in on the great detail that the book treats us to is truly a refreshing godsend .
His holding back on certain issues without demonising certain people is commendable
Yet the unsentimental reaction to others is
And their predicament or demise is also really refreshing .
I can’t recommend this book enough.

Wobble review
I really enjoyed this from start to finish. I laughed out loud on several occasions. The spiritual side of it was also right up my street. Comes across as a honest guy with some great insight into the music industry and the workings of the machine. One of the best Audiobooks I have taken up in a long while. What a top bloke and geezer.

Tar and Cobble
I loved this book. I used to work at Mile End Hospital on Bancroft Road. It was nice to hear Jah talk about areas I knew/know. Another spooky thing happened; I watched the film Sparrows Can't Sing. I had missed the beginning so did not know what it was called. I was talking to my Mum and Brother about the film in my Mum's kitchen in Macclesfield. My Mum says 'Oh, that sounds very much like Sparrows Can't Sing'' I googled it, and it was. Minutes later when I was driving home, I continued with the audio book in my car and, I kid you not.... The next chapter was when Jah is talking about how the film Sparrows Can't Sing was filmed in Bethnal Green. I nearly spat my imaginary tea all over the dashboard of the car!!! Top read Jah. Nice one!!
