About this listen

Vulkan lies in state beneath the Fortress of Hera, and yet many of his sons still refuse to believe that he is truly dead.

After a seemingly miraculous rescue by the Ultramarines, Artellus Numeon, once captain of the Pyre Guard, urges the other Salamanders on Macragge to leave Imperium Secundus and return their primarch's body to the home world of Nocturne - there to be reborn in the flames of Mount Deathfire. But Numeon grapples endlessly with his doubts and fears for the future of the Legion while their foes seek to carve out new destinies of their own....

The salamanders are turning into one of my favourite legions… one of the best so far!

That was worth it

Maybe slightly too long, bedsides that, another great HH novel, with the usual mix of blood and betrayal

Took a while to get going… too a while to get through the middle… last 1/3 was well paced.

A fine end

I found the story in this to be very contrived - really just didn’t enjoy it. The 3rd part of it just seemed tacked on

Tough going

Nothing to dislike. Good story showing nocturninan resilience. Good characters and plot although it’s one of those ones where once you know the end you could for the sake of it all, skip to the end and say “ok that’s cool”. Magnus in it as well was a surprise…..

Good story.

VULKAN LIVES!!!

While I understand Nick Kyme couldnt just have the journey from Maggre to Nocturne be an easy thing the entire book is so slow paced it almost goes backwards. The only thing that made it better than Damnation of Pythos is it actually advnced the plot even if it was minutely.

So slow paced.
