 Eddie Izzard is a phenomenon. From three month sell-out runs in London's West End, radio shows, theatre acting roles, writing a Channel Four sitcom called Cows, to a three month world tour, including an off-Broadway stop in New York, the man never stops! He even found time in 1996 to appear in a Damien Hirst film, help launch the Rock the Vote campaign, and complete the 30-day One Word improv tour.

This album was recorded on 16 December '95 at the Shaftesbury Theatre London, on the last night of the 11-week run of Eddie's Definite Article show, and demonstrates definitively, the genius that is Eddie Izzard.

This probably the best Eddie Izzard show out there on audible. Having said that, next time I listen to "Glorious" or "Dress to Kill" I will probably change my mind.

"Definite Article" feels more polished and ingeniously structured than the other shows, while still managing the odd non-link Izzard is famous for - i.e. randomly changing subject matter in a hilarious way. If you're a fan of Izzard and haven't heard this show, where have you been?! If you're not a fan and fancy trying it out, then this is certainly a gd'un to go for.

and, although still funny and charming, was rather too much dependent on funny sounds and noises. Still worth a listen, however, being a free download with the Audible Plus programme.

I always thought that you had to see Eddie Izzard to get the full value of his comedy, but listening to this I realise it isn't true - he is just as hilarious as ever. I love his slow, random style, and the characters he builds in his show. If you need a good pickmeup - have a listen!

I love Definite Article, and have done since it was first released on video, to the point I nearly wore out the VHS tape I played it on back in the day. I thought it fair to point out though, that as amusing as it is and as much as I laughed hearing this version, this is the same show yes, but NOT the same performance as released on video, and felt disappointed not to hear the bits that were missing.
