Erneut erhält Arsène Lupin einen anonymen Brief. Diesmal fordert der Verfasser ihn dazu auf, aus dem Nationalmuseum in Dublin einen Kelch zu stehlen. Es handelt sich dabei um einen keltischen Symbolkelch aus dem 7. Jahrhundert, den ein privater Sammler dem Museum für eine Ausstellung zur Verfügung stellt. Lupin, bestrebt herauszufinden, wer hinter den anonymen Briefen steckt, nimmt die Herausforderung an. In Irland muss er jedoch feststellen, dass er nicht der Einzige ist, der den wertvollen Kelch in seinen Besitz bringen will. Denn auch Mitglieder des Zirkels der Sieben haben Interesse an dem geheimnisumwitterten Kelch des Schicksals.
