About this listen

As dawn breaks on a snowy February morning, a refrigerated lorry is found parked in the heart of London's Chinatown. Inside, 12 women, apparently illegal immigrants, are dead from hypothermia. But in the cab, DC Max Wolfe finds 13 passports. Twelve dead women. Twelve passports. The hunt for the missing woman will take Max Wolfe into the dark heart of the world of human smuggling, mass migration and 21st-century slave markets.

Another excellent book in a superb series

I don't write reviews very often but this series (including this book) is so good it warrants it. Gripping and brutal at times, with excellent narration, these are some of the best crime thrillers I have ever listened to (with the initial Phillip Kerr Bernie Gunter books).

Brilliant in every way

Great story and the narrator is something else. Wow! Thoroughly enjoyed this listen. Not all journalists can write a decent book, but by God, Tony Parsons can.

A real story that grips from the start.

Max Wolff is a character destined for TV. Weary from life but determined to get to the bottom of an investigation. The narration is perfectly suited fo the story.

Max, oh dear

I didn't enjoy this the 4th Max Wolf book, the storyline is not believable with just too much bleeding heart sentiment and Max in implausible deadly situations with all too tidy ending
