About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Are you overwhelmed by conflicting nutritional advice?

Do you struggle to make healthier food choices?

In theory we all know what works and doesn't work for our bodies; we know that we should eat more vegetables, consume less refined sugar and saturated fat, avoid ultra-processed foods. We know that what we choose to eat has a direct consequence on our health and our happiness. But we have lost touch with our food; it's produced far away from our day to day lives and often arrives prepared and pre-packed to our homes, our desks and our supermarkets. We have built a food environment that is based on food marketing and arbitrary targets, instead of responding to our biology and nourishing ourselves as individuals.

In Every Body Should Know This, Dr Federica Amati, registered nutritionist and communications strategist at renowned health science company ZOE, explains how to make the most beneficial decisions for maintaining good health at every stage of life. This first-of-a-kind book combines nutrition, medical science and public health advice to create a simple evidence-based guide to what we should all know about our food and how it affects us.

Packed with jargon-free advice, and informed by the latest metabolic health research, Federica explores each life stage, from childhood right through to our senior years, delivering targeted recommendations for all, so everybody can have a better insight to what works for them personally, and reclaim the pleasure and the power of food.

I thought the overall thorough information should be taught to everyone as part of our educational system it should be taught throughout the duration of education in the UK. It has knowledge that can make a difference to our future if only it is shared properly.

The importance of sharing this knowledge to everyone is a human right.

Good information but monotonous narrator. Needs to be reread by an actor. Three more words

Needs a professional narrator

I had high hopes for this book, it does explain each part of aging and it’s reads well but, it’s the same old story of eat the food pyramid, believe blue zone cherry picked research and NHS guidelines that are making us sicker. Fibre is over sold and she says to really reduce red meat which research shows is now nonsensical as all research is flawed. Everyone already knows what this book delivers, GPs to government all recommend the same and it’s what’s making us all sick.
It mentions Zoe a few times and encourages glucose monitoring which as a CGM wearing is a stupid way of telling what foods suit you as the same foods can effect you differently every-time for lots of reasons
I wouldn’t recommend this book if you’re anti eat well pate/pyramid

It sounded like a presenter at a science lecture reading off a set of slides. I didn’t like the ‘cradle to grave’ view either, it just made me feel bad about the bad food decisions I’ve made over the last 40+ years including when I was pregnant and raising my children.

Not engaging
