The storyline is a good read but not as usual as Norman "Alex Cross" novels. The woods and river are good but not unless you know the terrain. I don't . Not one of my favourite books.

I've listened to all the series and really enjoyed this. drove the long way home on many occasions to reach end of chapter. Great plot with twists and turns.

unfortunately stopped after the first 3 chapters as the narrator wasn't capturing any of the characters like the previous narrator...

I have enjoyed the Alex Cross series but this was the least engaging one I have read. The plot seemed very disparate and with repetition which was not adding to the plot development (e. g. delicious food in Paris).

Disappointed

Having read all the Cross novels from the beginning and a number of Pattersons other books, I’m disappointed to say this will be the last. For the last 4 or 5 Cross novels I’ve got increasingly tired of the writer being an absolute sycophant to his characters, if that’s possible. Everyone in the Cross family and immediate circle is a star athlete, a genius, the best cook, the most wise, the best cop, the best FBI agent, it’s overkill to the point of being sickening, no one is just a person in the Criss world. And the stories are just plain daft and simplistic now, this being about the worst yet. Even though this doesn’t purport to be a co-author novel it seems as if he maybe had a 12 year old help him with it. This isn’t helped by the narrator who seems to bring an overall campness to the whole thing with his syrupy, smug tone, especially when reading female parts, he sounds like Rupaul in full flow. Overall a load of rubbish.

Last James Patterson novel I’ll be buying.
