About this listen

Layton had picked the perfect spot to lose his virginity to his girlfriend - an abandoned farmyard in the middle of cornfields. The only problem was something smelled bad....

He mentioned it to a county deputy he knew, and when they looked, they found a body stuffed down a cistern. By the time Lucas Davenport was called in, the police were up to fifteen bodies and counting. The victims had been killed over many years, one every summer. How could this have happened without anybody noticing?

This is book twenty something in the John Sandford Lucas Davenport series and, in my view, probably the best so far. Sandford's dialogue is top notch and although the "hero" has matured somewhat and become a steady family man his original character remains and the familiar side-kicks retain their well-described personalities. It does it for me and will satisfy all Sandford enthusiasts. The reader did well, not an easy task this one with so many male cops and characters, and made it an easy though gripping engagement. Highly recommended for those who like the genre and the author.

Davenport hunts. The stakes are high. The killer is practiced and prepared. It's no easy chase. Excellent.

A True Thriller

Really good story. Moves all the time. Davenport is sometimes slow in picking up a clue or doing the obvious.

Really good story.

Absolutely Amazing
Had me hooked from the start, the characters had depth and the narrator knows his stuff

Another great book from Mr Sanford

To be honest I only purchased this book because I like the narrator. But it is not a bad book. Easy to follow but too long and dragged out. There are violent and rape scenes but not too graphic. The end comes a bit suddenly with the book having previously taken you down many blind alleys

Well Read But Drawn Ouy
