About this listen

Prepare for a cruise like no other.

When an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) strikes Rose of the Sea, the pleasure cruise becomes a drifting nightmare. Powerless and desperate, the 1,100 passengers and crew must face their new reality: No one is coming to save them.

The first mate. The EMP destroys the captain's pacemaker, killing him in a heartbeat and Gunner McCrae is thrust into the top position. But no amount of training could prepare him for the savagery of desperate humans and an unforgiving ocean.

The anchor-woman. Gabrielle Kinsella should be reporting on the headline of the century. Instead she's fighting for her children's lives.

The acrobat. Held captive by a predator as a child, Madeline Jewel found freedom as the ship's acrobatic dancer. But being trapped in an elevator brings her worst fears back to life.

The gambler. Zon Woodrow won his ticket to the cruise in a poker match. With the ship's security system obliterated, Zon turns his attention to the casino's vault. And this time, the house won't win.

As resources dwindle aboard Rose of the Sea, the body count continues to rise. Will ordinary people survive an extraordinary disaster? Or will they drown in darkness?

These books are so entertaining and can't wait to complete the second in the series I thought they were written by a man as they are so gritty . Absolutely amongst the best books I have ever read. Also wonderful narration

Some repetitive dialogue but generally a good gritty story and had me listening with bated breath at points. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Exciting

Wow what a story! I was hooked from the first few minutes and couldn’t wait to go back to listen to it. The characters are all interesting and relatable, especially Gabby, from a parents point of view! I loved it and can not wait to hear what happens next…

Nail biting adventure

Not too shabby but not a series that I’d carry on with but ok for a Plus Catalogue freebie.

Mildly entertaining

Poorly written and female narrator is most annoying. I ended up skipping every chapter when the female was narrating

Poor performance

I was looking for a book that might be exciting and a bit different. Saw the advert for this telling me it would be amazing etc so went on Audible to give it a go.
Pleasantly surprised that it didn't cost me any credit so thought....result....let's give it a go.
Absolute rubbish.
The narration is terrible and sounds like AI!!!! The characters are completely one dimensional and you really don't care if they live or die.
I gave it a while before giving up (about 3 hours) and am disappointed as I hate giving up on books.
Really glad I didn't waste a credit on it.
Next time I won't fall for the Ads for books (or reviews)
If I could have given it no stars I would have done.
Do yourself a favour and just don't bother!!!!!

Terrible

Absolute drivel - the crew are useless, the repeated incidents beggar belief. An interesting idea, but needed better plotting and writing.

Dreadful

Unfortunately poor. Lots of story lines but none really get finished. Some parts are rushed where others seem to take ages but go nowhere. Characters aren’t really developed. There are hints at back stories but they never cone out, characters are often superficial in present and no hint to the future. You seem to be left thinking what was the point of the story.

No story line ever seems to get finish, no clear point to the story.
