Summary
The fourth thriller in the number one best-selling crime series from the award-winning Stuart MacBride. Panic grips the Granite City as DS Logan McRae heads up a manhunt for 'The Flesher' - one of the UK's most notorious serial killers.
The case was closed. Until the killer walked free....
When an offshore container turns up at Aberdeen Harbour full of human meat, it kicks off the largest manhunt in the Granite City's history.
Twenty years ago 'The Flesher' was butchering people all over the UK - turning victims into oven-ready joints - until Grampian's finest put him away. But 11 years later he was out on appeal. Now he's missing, and people are dying again.
When members of the original investigation start to disappear, Detective Sergeant Logan McRae realises the case might not be as clear cut as everyone thinks....
Twenty years of secrets and lies are being dragged into the light. And the only thing that's certain is that Aberdeen will never be the same again.

Very intense
Not for the faint of heart! Extremely gorey. Story is excellent. Stuart McBride doesn’t flinch away...
Some great characters- love DI Steele particularly as well as Laz

Crikey!!!
Another excellent read, however, it has put me off meat for good. After preparing a meal earlier in the day, of steak and salad I sent my husband out for fish and chips. I think I am going vegetarian Stuart’s book was nothing if not explicitly descriptive.

Not for the faint hearted
Too much blood and guts to be enjoyable but enough intrigue to keep me listening to the end. I wished I wasn't having to listen but I wanted to know how it ended. Not my sort of storyline at all. This is horror rather than crime.

Great Characters, Good Story, several plot holes
I'm a great fan of Logan, DI Steel, is my favourite character, followed closely by DC Rennie. The story as always has plot holes, but the characters more than make it worth reading/listening.
There's a mad butcher oot and aboot in Aberdeen and they are leaving bits of their victims in the food supply chain. Never before has mince 'n' tatties seemed so unappealing as DS Logan McRae and the usual cast of granite city grotesques try to catch the baddies before the unthinkable happens and a Scottish city has to resort to salad

Darkly sarky crime series
I could listen to these stories over and over, the combination of the terrific narration by Steve Worsley - who brings the characters alive and does Yelp of pain like no other - the distinct and interesting characters who all have fascinating arcs - and mostly the Scottish humour which, like Scandi Noir, alleviates the darkness of the plots.
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series from the library and will start to purchase them all to keep.
Highly recommended and worth your credits.

Another great listen from Stuart McBride
Steve Worsley is a great Narrator - I struggled to put this down - it's a great story but very graphic - reinforced my decision to go vegetarian 🤤
