Summary

For all that Jason knows, life is amazing. But he's about to learn that all his new power, wealth, and influence comes at a price.

Riding high on success, he and his team are looking to the future, preparing themselves for the challenges to come. Nothing, however, could have prepared him for the lessons his enemies have to teach. When magic is involved, the stakes can be even greater than life and death.

While Jason’s personal enemies make plans, the greater foes plaguing his new home have been pushed to the brink. With one powerful card left to play, they are on a collision course with Jason and his team. With no one to help and more than their lives on the line, Jason and his companions must fight with more monsters than ever in the race to grow stronger. With an invincible enemy already anticipating them, they will learn that sometimes winning the battle is more important than surviving it.

Brilliant

Love these books. The only thing that’s as bit annoying is that all the women have the same voice! Apart from that the writing and performance is fantastic.

I’m hooked

I have got the books lined up and have had to come back to review this one. These are just brilliant and Jason’s confrontation with the Builder I lived through, it was that good. Highly recommended and the narrator is nailing the story in this one.

O god this is good

Ok don’t get me started on this audio book I’m 13 and I LOVE fantasy and that stuff so this was on my recommendation page so I got the first book and I was hooked I finished it then I went to the second and I finished then I saw the 3rd on was on premiere i was a bit annoyed but I waited and it came out then I finished it today and then I see that there 4th is on premiere I was happy as hell, I love this series because 1 Jason he is stupid and smart and funny and I can slightly compare him to me, 2 I love mmorpg / lite rpgs, 3 the caricatures are well thought about (spoilers) and last but not least 4 THE END ITS AMAZING!!! Tho it’s a bit sad that Jason died, this is just a thrilling book it has earned 5 stars easy

Non-gamers response

Hi, I am a 60 year old woman who has never played a computer game more complicated than Frogger or Tetris. And never written a review in my life. But this deserves my time.

I bought book 1 to help me sleep. A story I would have zero interest in that would just be noise in the background to shut my own restless brain down.
So imagine my surprise when I was sleeping less because I needed to hear what would happen to these amazing characters. And I found myself listening to the books more than once which I have never done before with any book read or listened to.

As a psychoanalyst I am impressed by how realistically the characters behave and talk, over 3 extensive books. I’m guessing you have a group of writers and that means the characters have individual voices very discernible from each other.

The worlds created are mesmerising, the bad guys eminently believable and I really feel I want to hear more about their journey.
With any book/film as a reader/listener/viewer I am always waiting to be disappointed by sequels that just cannot reach the excitement engendered by the original, and with the possibility of 4, 20+ hour tomes being released in one year how could this not happen. That is not the case here, each book is as exciting and thrilling as the last and the epilogue of book 3 is just a fantastic teaser for further story arcs that sound equally engaging.

I am really looking forward to Book 4. Awesome job guys - keep them coming.

story good, spell description bad

this series of stories started well, and has developed the character well, bit it is spoiled in the audio by the constant un necessary repetition of spell descriptions which spoils the pace of the book.
the Author describes the relevant disparity between adversaries well, which means that after one description of a spell, no more should be needed. but the story has to stop whilst the narrator goes through a 2 minute list of effects .
in the book this can be skimmed, allowing the pace of the story to keep up. in the audio, it nearly made me give up.
the overall story and development is one of the better LitPrg books. shame about the spell listing

Love the story, love the ideaology, good narration

I will start by saying this may not be for everybody, the protagonists beliefs may "trigger some", overall a great story, decent world building with likeable side characters, a little to repetitive when it comes to explaining the skills and what they do, hence the four stars overall, if the author could cut back on explaining the same skill 2-3 times it would flow better, but that can be overlooked, all in all I can't wait for the next installment, with outstanding narration, you know who is talking which is a must in my opinion.
