About this listen
Desperate for help with your ADHD children? Tearing your hair out trying to understand why they don’t react or behave like other kids? Want to do the right thing - but don't have a clue what that is? Help is at hand!
Sarah Templeton, a therapist with ADHD herself, has written this book after working with hundreds of ADHD parents from all over the UK who have told her, ‘’if only I’d known all this stuff while they were growing up’’.
Well, now all this information is in one place - in an easy-to-understand format. Skip straight to whatever issue you’re struggling with right now. The book uses real-life examples of what worked, what didn’t, and why.
Recommended by ADHD psychiatrists, ADHD pediatricians, SEN teachers, ADHD parents, and ADHD teenage clients. For anyone coming into contact with ADHD kids, including moms, dads, brothers, sisters, nans, grandads, uncles and aunts, and professionals.
Find out where your child’s ADHD came from. Find out about the three different kinds of ADHD. Discover the 30 or more ADHD traits nobody ever told you about. Learn how to best handle situations you may well find yourself in with your ADHD child. Hear real-life examples where therapeutic strategies and different ways of doing things have turned ADHD houses of horror into oases of calm and serenity.
Sarah Templeton is an English counselor, CBT therapist, and coach who has specialized in ADHD since her own shock diagnosis at the age of 51. Sarah has worked in four English prisons and been dismayed at the number of diagnosed, but more often undiagnosed, ADHD kids who end up in prison.
She witnessed for herself how unmanaged ADHD adolescents can fail catastrophically at school, often leading them to experiment with drugs or alcohol and fall so easily into a life of addiction, unemployment, homelessness, and crime.

Welcome informative read
Absolutely loved this book. I found it easy to read and to listen to. Yep that's right within 5 chapters I thought I would get the audible version too. Pleasent surprise. It made so much sense both about myself, my ex husband and my son. All I believe can learn alot from its content.
I have engaged in many ADHD parent meetings over the years and so much of this book not just makes sense but is true.
Wonderful informative read.

A must read
This book is fantastic. Accessible and insightful, what a find. As a parent of a child with ADHD this has given me so much to think about and do to help them with life with ADHD. Books like this should be available in schools and every teacher should read (not a dig at teachers, just in my experience the lack of knowledge of ADHD in schools is frightening). Can’t recommend it enough.

Fabulous - ADHD parent of an ADHD
I listened to this on Audible and loved it - Sarah's clear, straight talking style and ability to cut through to exactly what you need to know is excellent. I now will be buying the hard copy to as it's such a good repository to dip into for guidance as things arise. I'm an occupational therapist and I found it excellent from a personal and professional perspective.
I'd bought it to help me with my son but actually found it very enlightening and reassuring for me. I'm newly diagnosed and found this book just cemented things for me.
What I love about it:
- Sarah clearly is an expert in her field - both with lived experience and through training and study and crucially, practice with loads of ADHD folk and families. It's a powerful combination.
- Sarah gives the issue/ADHD trait, how it's caused/why it happens and then gives useful solutions/ideas to support. Fab! And very logical!
- It's really pushing a respectful approach - an approach that validates and supports rather than berates/humiliates.
- It fits with my gentle parenting approach apart from the reward system idea but that in itself has encouraged me to think and challenge my existing parenting beliefs - actually if my little one has ADHD then he may struggle with intrinsic motivation (as pushed by Gentle parenting) and might well need more extrinsic support, eg rewards. I know I do far better chasing a reward/goal in life, and I can set my own but little dude doesn't have those skills yet.
Thank you Sarah, wholeheartedly. A brilliant book and I look forward to your next books :-)

Life saving book
Absolutely phenomenal. It’s as if everything makes sense and I’m no longer lost or confused. One of the best investments I’ve made in to having a better understanding and view of something I most probably wouldn’t have got on my own. Thank you so much to author. One of the best books on ADHD!!!!!!

Brilliant, Funny and Informative
I initially bought this due to the title (I was having a particularly difficult time with my ADHD child!) but found it to be one of the most honest and helpful books I’ve read on the topic! Sarah Templeton is candid in her descriptions of the challenges that can (and most often do) arise when raising a child with ADHD, but offers frank explanations and guidance. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a calm port in the storm of an ADHD diagnosis.

Probably the only book you’ll ever need on ADHD
Leagues better than the other one I downloaded. I’m not sure there’s anything I don’t know after listening to this book!
